Farm Holiday was born in Italy as a simple form of free reception from the farmers, that very generously housed people coming from the town. They allowed them to take part in their activities and made them understand the country life, as it really was.
Besides this not to be neglected is the fact that they offered the guests special dishes of their regional cuisine. Evidently even a lot of years ago they felt the need to escape from the towns and to taste the pleasure of a simple but fascinating life.
The genesis of the organized farm holiday is more recent and dates back to February of 1965, when a group of young agriculturists of the Confagricoltura driven by Simone Velvets Zati founded the National Association Agriculture and Tourism, taking as a starting point the French" Agricultures et Tourisme" constituted ten years previously. To this association we must recognize that the aim for which it was founded, that is to promote initiatives to favour the tourist exploitation of the agricultural environment and its resources, has broadly been reached.
As it is stated by the law that controls the farm holidays activity, the farm houses should enrich the regional tourist offer and, at the same time, safeguard and valorise the social-economic, cultural and environmental patrimony of the land, as well as promote the rural development.
The Region has therefore established parameters that define the farm holidays activity, so as to guarantee the quality of the offer and to protect the tourists.
